MADISON, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a round-low 158 in a rain-shortened nine-hole round on day one of the Hanover Fall Classic.
The Belles hold a one-stroke lead over host Hanover. Manchester is currently in third with a 169 on day one.
Lauren Read led all players with a 37 on the nine completed holes of the day. Ali Mahoney was second in the field of more than 50 golfers with a nine-hole score of 38. Taylor Kehoe was a stroke behind and holds a share of third place with a 39. Kaitlyn Cartone rounded rounded out the team score with a 44 and is tied for 17th place overall. Julia McAlindon was the Belles' fifth golfer in the lineup and shot a 48 (t-29th).
Kaitlyn Gray is competing as an individual and matched the best score among individuals with a 41 to sit in a tie for ninth place overall.
Day two of the tournament, which will be comprised of 18 holes as the additional nine holes from today will not be made up, begins at 9:30 a.m. at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour, Indiana.
