HOLLAND, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team shouldered their first MIAA loss of the season in an 8-1 setback against regionally-ranked Hope on Saturday.

Lilly Chamberlin and Maddie Minaudo came up just short in an 8-4 final at two doubles, and Monica and Megan Davy fell in an 8-3 final at one doubles. Kelsey Kopf and Elizabeth Preister prevailed in a tight 8-5 win at three doubles to make the overall match score 2-1.

Megan Davy came up on the wrong end of a 6-3, 6-1 final at two singles, and Kelsey Kopf suffered a 6-1, 6-3 setback at three singles. Monica Davy squared off against the ninth-ranked singles player in the region and fell by a 6-0, 6-1 final at one singles. Lilly Chamberlin had a lengthy duel at five singles but was stopped just short in a tiebreaker in a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) match. Maddie Minaudo was narrowly edged out in her first set before coming in on the short end of a 7-5, 6-1 four singles match. Elizabeth Preister went to a tiebreaker in both sets but eventually fell in both tiebreakers in a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4) final at six singles.

The Belles (11-6, 5-1 MIAA) travel to Calvin on Wednesday, April 25 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
