EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team garnered their first victory of the season with an 8-1 decision over Alma in a non-conference match on Saturday at the Michigan Athletic Club.
Nicole Becker made quick work of her five singles match as the senior took a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Lilly Chamberlin captured a 6-1, 6-1 victory at three singles, and
Annika Smith took her second singles win in as many attempts this spring with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at six singles.
Lucy Chamberlin prevailed 6-3, 6-1 at two singles, and
Megan Davy battled out a 6-4, 6-3 win at one singles.
Kathleen McLeod went to a tiebreaker at four singles before coming up just short in a 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 marathon match.
Kalyn Borger and
Nicole Becker took an 8-3 match in an exhibition contest at four doubles.
Nikki Rust, meanwhile, had an 8-1 exhibition win at seven singles to round out the efforts on the day for the Belles.
Saint Mary's returns to action on Thursday, March 11 when they host Kalamazoo at Notre Dame's Eck Tennis Pavilion starting at 6:30 p.m. No spectators are allowed per venue policy.
