NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team claimed a 9-0 conference win over visiting Albion in the Belles' final home match of the 2021 season on a warm and breezy Tuesday afternoon.

 

Megan Davy and Alyssa Gulli did not drop a game on their way to a quick 8-0 win at one doubles. Nicole Becker and Jane Price captured an 8-3 win at three doubles. Lilly Chamberlin and Lucy Chamberlin outlasted their counterparts in an 8-4 final at two doubles to put the Belles ahead 3-0.

 

Gulli kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-0 win at four singles, and Lucy Chamberlin followed suit with a 6-0, 6-0 decision of her own at two singles to clinch the win. Kathleen McLeod captured a 6-1, 6-1 victory at five singles, and Jane Price prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at six singles. Megan Davy fought off deuce to hold serve and take a 6-2, 6-0 one singles win. Lilly Chamberlin capped off the team win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at three singles.

 

Kathleen McLeod and Kalyn Borger won an 8-1 exhibition doubles match. Annika Smith did not drop a game in an 8-0 exhibition singles win. Nikki Rust came back from an early deficit to win 8-2 in her exhibition singles match to conclude the competition.

 

The Belles (6-5, 4-3 MIAA) await the conference's determination of which four teams will earn a spot in the MIAA Tournament, which starts on May 5. The announcement is expected early next week.
