KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Four members of the Saint Mary's tennis team opened the fall season on Friday at the ITA Central Regional Championships hosted by Kalamazoo College.

 

Alyssa Gulli and Alayna Campbell kicked off the day with a hard-fought 8-7 (7) win over Ellen Gardner and Sophia DiBiase from DePauw University. With the victory, the pair advances to the round of 16 and will square off against Hannah Houghland and Alaina Kanthaphixay from North Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at Stowe Stadium.

 

In singles play, Lucy Chamberlin fell in a 6-0, 6-0 final in her first match of the day against Sarah Robertson from Denison. Chamberlin was then stopped short by Katherine Price from DePauw in a 6-3, 6-1 final in the consolation bracket. Kathleen McLeod was stopped in a 6-2, 6-1 final in her opening match against Kaeli Smashey from North Central. McLeod kept her tournament run alive with a 6-2, 0-6, 10-1 win over Addison Brannon from Greenville. McLeod is set to square off against Eleni Dakos from Kenyon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Kalamazoo's Markin Center.
