HANOVER PARK, Ill. - The Saint Mary's tennis team fell in a 9-0 match against regionally-ranked No. 20 Wheaton at the Center Court Athletic Club on Thursday evening.

 

Kalyn Borger and Meredith Heckert were stopped short in an 8-2 final at two doubles, and Kathleen McLeod and Nikki Rust had an 8-2 setback against their Thunder counterparts at three doubles. Lucy Chamberlin and Alayna Campbell shouldered a tight 8-4 loss at one doubles.

 

Lucy Chamberlin nearly forced a tiebreaker at one singles but was just shy in a 6-1, 6-4 final while Alayna Campbell had a tough 6-3, 6-0 setback at two singles. Meredith Heckert fell in a 6-2, 6-1 decision at three singles. and Kathleen McLeod battled in a 6-3, 6-3 loss at four singles.

Katie Hunter dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match at five singles. Nikki Rust came up short in a 6-1, 6-0 final at six singles.

 

In exhibition competition, Katie Hunter and Bailey Siglow were stopped in a four doubles contest by an 8-4 score. Siglow then competed at seven singles but came up just short in an 8-5 final.

 

The Belles (4-8) are back to conference competition on Saturday when they travel to Alma for a 1:00 p.m. MIAA match against the Scots.
