KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team fell in a 7-2 final at Kalamazoo in conference competition on Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets captured two of the first singles matches to be completed and clinched the win a short while later all in closely-played matches.
Lucy Chamberlin was edged 6-4- 6-3 in a one singles match, and
Alayna Campbell fell 6-2, 6-4 in two singles play.
Leah Hosang bounced back from a first-set loss to win her four singles match 0-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Emma Kealy shouldered a tough 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 loss at three singles on the day.
Kathleen McLeod battled but fell in a tiebreaker in her opening set before ending on the short side of a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 final at five singles.
Evelyn Demblans-Dechans was also on the wrong side of a 6-4, 6-3 match at six singles.
The Belles have a break from competition and return to the courts on Wednesday, April 12 when they travel to Trine for a 4:00 p.m. conference match.
