NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team captured an 8-1 win over visiting Trine in a conference match played at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Tuesday afternoon.
Emma Kealy had a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at two singles to keep the momentum going for the Belles.
Evelyn Demblans-Dechans clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-2 decision at three singles.
Anna Gardner captured a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory at four singles.
Katie Hunter fought off her opponent in the second set for a 6-1, 6-3 win at six singles.
Alayna Campbell fell in a tough 6-3, 6-1 match at one singles.
Hannah Gerner had a late push in the second set to force a tiebreaker. Gerner jumped out to a big lead in the set tiebreaker and never looked back in a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) final at five singles.
The Belles had success from top to bottom in exhibition play.
Olivia Erickson and
Michaela Hauer earned an 8-2 win in doubles play. Hauer later closed out the match with an 8-3 singles victory.
Grace Clearwater won a singles match by an 8-3 margin, and
Genevieve Brawner posted a 6-0 exhibition win of her own.
The Belles (14-6, 4-2 MIAA) look to continue their momentum in their final home match of the season on Saturday when they host Olivet at 1:00 p.m. It will also be the team's Senior Day match as
Katie Hunter will be recognized for her contributions to the team.
