SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Tennis defeated Calvin University in their regular season finale on Friday evening, 4-3. The Belles finish the regular season with a 15-4 (6-2 MIAA) record while the Knights fall to 13-5 (5-3 MIAA).
Doubles
The Belles would take all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Senior Alayna Campbell (Granger, IN) and junior Emma Kealy (Hudson, OH) would take care of their opponent easily, 6-2, at the number one match. Sophomore Sophia Pischalko (Granger, IN) and freshman Shannon Dudy (Glenview, IL) would also easily take care of their opponent at the number two match, 6-2. Sophomore Anna Gardner (Houston, TX) and freshman Lanie Brant (Stevensville, MI) saw their match come down to the final point but came out victorious at number three, 7-6.
Singles
Brant would kick off singles play by taking down her opponent handily at number five, 6-0 6-4. Kealy would follow shortly after, taking care of her opponent at the number two slot, 6-2 6-2. Calvin would take the win at the number three match before Campbell would secure the match win for the Belles at number one singles match, 6-2 7-6 (10-8). The Knights would take the number four match in a third set and would take the number six match.
UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES
Saint Mary's will prepare for the MIAA Tournament as they will kickoff quarter final action on Monday, April 28, as they will host Trine University in the 3 vs 6 matchup. A start time for the match is yet to be determined.
