NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Lacrosse fell in their home MIAA opener on Tuesday evening, 15-7, to Adrian College. The Belles fall to 10-2 (2-1 MIAA) on the year while the Bulldogs improve to 9-3 (3-1 MIAA).
Adrian got the game started with three straight goals in the first seven minutes of the first quarter. Junior
Kathryn Kalinowski (Atlanta, GA) responded for the Belles with her first goal of the game three minutes later. The Bulldogs added another goal in the first quarter before junior
Rachel Speckhard (Munster, IN) got on the scoresheet with six seconds left off an assist from junior
Lana Skibins (Granger, IN).
The Bulldogs added two more goals to open the second quarter before the Belles added two more in quick succession. Senior
Alyssa Grant (Oak Lawn, IL) added a goal before less than a minute later, junior
Kelsey King (Sylvania, OH) added another, both a man-up. Kalinowski added her first assist of the night on the King goal. Adrian would add two more goals quickly to head into halftime with an 8-4 advantage.
The third quarter was as defensive as it could get, both teams were held scoreless in the first ten minutes. Adrian would add on two more goals before Grant added her second of the night and Kalinowski added her second assist, going into the fourth quarter with the Bulldogs leading, 10-5.
Adrian continued to dominate offensively, adding five unanswered goals to start the running clock in the fourth quarter. A minute after the final Bulldog goal, Grant secured her hattrick before Speckhard closed out the scoring with her second as Kalinowski added her third assist. Adrian held on to take home their 15-7 victory.
Grant led the team with three goals while Speckhard added two. Kalinowski tallied a team high three assists and four points on the night.
Defensively, King led with two ground balls while Delgado added a team high four caused turnovers. Speckhard led the team with four draw controls on the night while freshman
Sophia Martinello (Elmhurst, IL) added three. In goal, sophomore
Kaya Seaboy (Evansville, IN) added 14 saves in her 60 minutes of play.

Saint Mary's continues the homestand as they welcome in Hope College on Saturday with a 1pm start. The Belles close out the homestand on Wednesday, April 15, as they host Calvin University.
