NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team fell in a 6-3 final against neighboring Holy Cross at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in the Belles' first match since March 11, 2020.
An early forfeit at the three doubles flight gave Saint Mary's a quick overall advantage in the team scoring.

Lucy Chamberlin fell in a 6-2 final at two doubles. A 6-2 setback at one doubles in a tight match for
Megan Davy and
Kathleen McLeod gave Holy Cross the 2-1 edge going into singles play.
Annika Smith was the first player off in singles play, and the sophomore came away with her first collegiate win in a 6-2, 6-0 decision at the five singles flight. Coupled with another forfeit by the Saints, and the Belles held a tight 3-2 edge with the remaining four singles matches being contested.
Lucy Chamberlin shouldered a 6-1, 6-0 setback at two singles.
Lilly Chamberlin was stopped in a 6-0, 6-1 final at three singles.
Kathleen McLeod bounced back from a 6-1 loss in the first set to pull within 5-3 in the second set, but the sophomore could not quite complete the comeback in a 6-3 final at four singles.
Megan Davy broke serve in the second set to make it a 4-2 score before her counterpart took the next two games for a 6-2, 6-2 battle at one singles.
The Belles (0-1) are scheduled to travel to Alma on March 6 for a 1:00 p.m. match.
