HOLLAND, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team had a 7-2 setback in a conference match against Hope on Wednesday afternoon.
Jane Price dropped just one game in a strong 6-1, 6-0 victory at six singles for the Belles. Davy was on the wrong side of a 6-0, 6-2 final at one singles, and
Lilly Chamberlin had a 6-1, 6-2 setback at three singles.
Alyssa Gulli jumped out to an early lead and was strong in a tiebreaker en route to a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 win at four singles.
Lucy Chamberlin tried to force a tiebreaker of her own at two singles but came up just short in a 6-3, 7-5 final.
Kathleen McLeod had several strong rallies and was narrowly edged out in her first set before being stopped in the second set in a 7-5, 6-2 final at five singles.
The Belles (4-5, 2-3 MIAA) are set to host Adrian on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. The three members of the senior class -
Nicole Becker,
Lilly Chamberlin, and
Megan Davy - will be recognized approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the match.
