NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team earned a commanding 9-0 conference win over visiting Adrian on Senior Recognition Day at Notre Dame's Eck Tennis Pavilion on Saturday.
Senior
Megan Davy and
Alyssa Gulli did not drop a game en route to an 8-0 win to set the tone early. Fellow senior
Nicole Becker and
Jane Price jumped ahead early and never looked back in an 8-1 win at three doubles. After falling behind 3-2, senior
Lilly Chamberlin and
Lucy Chamberlin held serve before breaking serve to take a 4-3 lead at two doubles. The pair continued to trade games back-and-forth before coming back from a deficit in a game to force deuce twice and eventually breaking serve to capture an 8-5 win.
In singles play,
Alyssa Gulli needed less than half an hour to secure a 6-0, 6-0 win at the number four flight.
Kathleen McLeod battled back to force deuce and eventually won to hold serve and secure a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own at five singles. Moments later,
Jane Price capped off a 6-0, 6-0 win at six singles.
Megan Davy surrendered a game early in the first set of her one singles competition before she rattled off eleven unanswered games in a 6-1, 6-0 final.
Lucy Chamberlin overcame an early 2-1 deficit in her first set as she prevailed 6-3, 6-0 at two singles.
Lilly Chamberlin out-lasted her counterpart in a tightly played three singles match as she took a 6-2, 6-4 victory to close out the match.
The Belles (5-5, 3-3 MIAA) are back at home on Tuesday when they host Albion in the regular season finale starting at 4:00 p.m.
