HOLLAND, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team fell by an 8-1 margin against No. 29 ranked Hope in a conference match on Wednesday afternoon.
Hannah Gerner battled in a 6-3, 6-1 setback at six singles.
Alayna Campbell played a tough match but fell in a 6-3, 6-1 final at one singles.
Grace Clearwater was on the short end of a 6-3, 6-1 five singles match.
Emma Kealy nearly forced a tiebreaker at two singles but came up just short in a 6-2, 6-4 competition.
Evelyn Demblans-Dechans battled her way to a 6-4, 6-4 win at three singles. Anna Garnder was just edged out in her comeback effort as the freshman forced a tiebreaker but was stopped by the bare minimum in a tightly-contested 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) marathon match at four singles.
The Belles (12-6, 2-2 MIAA) return home to host Kalamazoo on Saturday for a conference match starting at 1:00 p.m.
