NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Soccer defeated Anderson University on Wednesday night, 2-1. The Belles improve to 3-3 on the year while the Ravens fall to 3-1-2.
Both teams played a physical first half and Anderson was the first to strike with a goal at the 23:33 mark to take an early 1-0 lead. The Belles would storm back off a goal from freshman Taylor London at the 32:20. The goal was London's first collegiate goal.
The Saint Mary's offense would continue to surge in the second half as they took their first lead of the match at the 63:44 when senior Katie Harrington found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Danielle Escobedo. The Belles defense would hold strong the rest of the match and the Belles would come out victorious.
Saint Mary's outshot Anderson 18-4 and 3-1 in shots on goal. Senior Mary Kaczynski led the team with five shots, senior Izzi Linus followed with four while senior Grace Barresi and sophomore Margaret Slove finished with three each.
