Belles Celebrate Cancer Dedication Night with Headstrong

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Soccer drew with Wheaton College, 0-0, on Friday night as the Belles partnered with Headstrong to celebrate Cancer Dedication night. The Belles move to 5-0-2 while the Thunder move to 3-3-2.

Both teams' defenses would show strong in the first half as both teams were only able to muster two shots a piece in the half. Saint Mary's and Wheaton would play exactly even statistically in the first half, finishing the first 45 with the same number of shots, saves, corner kicks, and fouls.

While both sides' offenses would start to tick up a little bit in the second half, it was the defense that continued to shine. The Belles would get off six more shots in the second half while the Thunder would take another four.

The Belles and Thunder would each have stretches of strong attacks in the latter portion of the second half. Wheaton would tally the majority of their four second half corners during this portion while Saint Mary's would take the majority of their six shots over this time. During the Thunders strong attacking period and with a strong shot on target, it was Belles freshman goalkeeper Meghan Krayer (Hinsdale, IL) who would make a beautiful diving save to keep the game tied and finish the game 0-0.

Freshman Mia Johnson (Mission Viejo, CA) would lead the Belles with three shots while junior Eleah Hedstrom (St. Joseph, MI) and sophomore Isabella Kreydich (Tinley Park, IL) would each tally two. The Belles would outshoot the Thunder in the end, 8-6.

Krayer, who was making her first collegiate start, would make one save on the lone Wheaton shot on goal.
