GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Basketball fell at Calvin University on Saturday 74-41. The Belles fall to 7-13 (2-9 MIAA) while the Knights improve to 11-9 (6-5 MIAA).
Calvin started the game strong, knocking down eight shots, including two three-pointers, in the first quarter to take an 18-6 lead. Saint Mary's shot just 20% from the field in the quarter while both sophomore Ella Andree (Spring Lake, MI) and freshman Liv Fry (Fort Wayne, IN) scored three points each.
The Knights defense continued to hold the Belles at bay as they went into the locker room with a 34-16 lead while holding Saint Mary's to just 23% from the field. Andree and Fry each led with six points while sophomore Ella Notaro (Crystal Lake, IL) added four.
While the Belles outshot the Knights from the field in the third quarter, Calvin went a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line to add onto their lead. Calvin led 55-30 heading into the final quarter. Notaro added five points to her total on the day, bringing her to nine while shooting 3-6 from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line.
Calvin continued to control the ball game in the fourth quarter and closed out their 74-41 victory. Saint Mary's shot their best quarter of the game in the fourth, knocking down 43% of their shots.
Notaro led the team with 11 points while Fry added seven and Andree finished with six. Fry and sophomore Kate Passinault (Grand Rapids, MI) grabbed a team high six rebounds a piece. Andree and freshman Caroline Langworthy (Cincinnati, OH) snagged three steals each.

Saint Mary's hits the road on Wednesday, February 4, as they travel to Kalamazoo College for a 7pm tipoff. After a weekend break, the Belles return home on February 11 to host Trine University at 7pm.
