NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Lacrosse fell to Calvin University on Wednesday night, 14-4. The Belles fall to 10-4 (2-3 MIAA) on the year while the Knights improve to 10-5 (4-1 MIAA).
The first quarter belonged to Calvin as they put up four goals in the first 15 minutes, going into the first break with a 4-0 lead.
Saint Mary's got on the board just under two minutes into the second quarter as senior
Alyssa Grant (Oak Lawn, IL) got her evening started. Calvin answered with back-to-back goals before the Belles offense got back into it. Junior
Rachel Speckhard (Munster, IN) added her name to the scoresheet before Grant added her second goal of the night less than 30 seconds later. Junior
Kathryn Kalinowski (Atlanta, GA) found Grant for her goal to tally the assist. The two goals for Saint Mary's towards the end of the first half cut the deficit in half, trailing 6-3 at halftime.
The Knights controlled the third quarter as they added three unanswered goals to extend their lead, 9-3, heading into the final quarter.
Calvin added three more goals in the first half of the fourth quarter before Grant polished off her hat trick off an assist from junior
Lana Skibins (Granger, IN). The Knights closed out the game with a couple more goals to secure their 14-4 win.
Grant led the team with three goals on the night, her tenth hat trick of the season. Speckhard added a goal of her own while Kalinowski and Skibins tallied an assist each.
Defensively, Speckhard led the team with three caused turnovers on the night while while junior
Cate Shepherd (Bay Village, OH) and freshman
Sophia Martinello (Elmhurst, IL) added two. Freshman
Ella Klingerman (Noblesville, IN) led the team with four draw controls while sophomore
Piper Downey (Northbrook, IL) added two.
In goal, sophomore
Kaya Seaboy (Evansville, IN) made 12 saves on the night while facing 44 shots and 26 shots on goal.

Saint Mary's will hit the road for the final time in the regular season as they travel to Kalamazoo College on Saturday for a 1pm matchup. The Belles then return home for the regular season finale on Tuesday, April 21, as they host Trine University at 4pm.
