FRANKLIN, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Soccer earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Franklin College on Friday evening to open the 2025 season. The Belles improve to 1-0 on the year while the Grizzlies fall to 0-1.
Saint Mary's would get on the board early in the match as junior Brooke Baumann (Barlett, IL) would find the back of the net from the penalty spot to give the Belles an early 1-0 lead.
The Belles would control the offense early in the game, going into halftime with a 4-1 advantage in shots while also recording three corners and allowing none.
Saint Mary's would add onto their lead in the first ten minutes of the second half as sophomore Isabella Kreydich (Tinley Park, IL) would find the back of the net to give the Belles a 2-0 lead. The Belles would continue to outshoot the Grizzlies in the second half, 6-3.
The Belles would finish out their strong defensive night by only allowing four total shots and only two shots on goal. Saint Mary's would outshoot Franklin 10-4 and 5-2 in shots on goal. Kreydich would lead the team in shots with five, three being on goal, while freshman Mia Johnson (Mission Viejo, CA) would record two shots as well.
Sophomore goalkeeper Keona Caraballo (Parma, OH) would earn a shutout victory in her first collegiate start. Caraballo would make two saves on the Grizzlies two shots on goal.
