Belles Fall to Scots in Tight Clash

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Soccer fell to Alma College, 1-0, at home on Wednesday evening. The Belles fall to 4-7-1 (1-4 MIAA) while the Scots improved to 10-3-1 (2-3 MIAA).

Both teams battled back and forth in the midfield throughout the first half as neither held possession for long. Alma got the scoring started in the eighth minute of the match after crossing a ball into the middle of the box, finding the foot of a Scot to put them ahead, 1-0. Neither offense had strong chances throughout the remainder of the half as the teams combined for just six total shots while the Scots added two shots on goal.

The second half was a similar story as the first as neither team held possession for long periods. Both offenses struggled to get anything going in the second half as they combined for just three total shots. While Saint Mary's pushed hard in the final minutes to find the equalizer, Alma held strong for their 1-0 victory.

Graduate Ava Slater (Fort Wayne, IN), junior Isabella Kreydich (Tinley Park, IL), and freshman Lily Larimer (Pittsford, NY) all tallied one shot on the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Krayer (Hinsdale, IL) added three saves on four shots faced on the night.
